natniss 's review for:
The Moomins and the Great Flood
by Tove Jansson
adventurous
lighthearted
relaxing
fast-paced
Strong character development:
No
Loveable characters:
Yes
This speeds along (and is very short). It does feel a bit too light as there is a lot going on with next to no explanation or elaboration.
I grew up with the Moomin anime and absolutely adored it so this felt nostalgic and enjoyable partly because I'm projecting my memories of these characters onto their early iterations. Poor Sniff doesn't even have a name yet here!
The illustrations are gorgeous but the scale of things is all over the place which adds to the surrealism.
