The 80/20 Principle, Expanded and Updated: The Secret to Achieving More with Less by Richard Koch
2.0
I had heard so many things about this book and so when I saw it on audiobook in my library, I took the opportunity to finally listen to it. Listening to this book is not the best way to read it, this audiobook was 9 hours long but it felt like it went on forever.
The first half of this book was completely and utterly not relevant to me. It was talking about business but I'm a nurse so that's not really applicable to me. It went on for nine chapters about what the 80/20 principle was and how it could be applied to business. It was fairly boring, though there were glimmers of interesting points in there, and I almost fell asleep listening to it. Bad news when you're driving.
Then it got a little more interesting, looking at how to apply it to your life and increase your productivity. I remember not finding it too bad to listen and even finding it quite interesting. The only trouble is - I can't remember a lot of what was said. I remember liking the second half of the book a lot more than the first half but as for applying the principles to my own life, it's not going to happen because I honestly cannot remember what happened in it. And I only finished this book two days ago.
So, I'm going to have to give this book 2.5 stars because, while I agree with the 80/20 principle, this book was completely forgettable. Maybe if I try it in print?
