Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo

adventurous dark emotional mysterious tense medium-paced

5.0

This series has me completely hooked. I feel like it’s a culmination of Bardugo’s writing maturing over the years. Alex is such a gritty and relatable character. She’s a survivor and “‘We do what we have to,’ Alex said. ‘That’s the only job of a survivor.’” The magic and world building in this series are so interesting and well researched. I read this 500 page book in like two days because I was so immersed I couldn’t put it down.

Both Ninth House and Hell Bent are definitely worth the read. One final quote:
“As for opportunity, she knew better than anyone: You had to make it for yourself.”
