To Sleep in a Sea of Stars
by Christopher Paolini
It's good. The author is taking things they clearly loved from well-worn science fiction and horror tropes and telling a neat story. Some sparkling moments, and a laudable bravery in letting the story pick up and discard things at a rapid pace. But there wasn't enough in here for me. I couldn't connect with or care about the characters or the plot. DNF, maybe 33%. Recommended for forgiving science fiction fans.
