Heavy: An American Memoir by Kiese Laymon

5.0

This book deserves more than my usual pithy (argh! Terrible typo in my first version!) review, so I won't even try to review it. I'll just say that Laymon does so much in so few pages that it's one of the best books I've read (listened to) in quite some time. His lyrical prose is like a steam engine that steadily gains speed, and each time when you think it's reached its peak, he adds more fuel and ramps up the intensity. Remarkable.
