How much drama are they drawing out of an injured horse that needs to be put down? The audiobook narrator is emoting the characters too much, I don't want to feel this uncomfortable in the beginning of a book I'm not even properly into yet. I'm not invested in these characters enough for this level of devastation, and the plot hasn't picked up enough pace.
