This book deals with important issues surrounding racism and privilege, however I felt that the plot seemed so trivial. Maybe that was the point of the book - showing how pervasive racism and privilege is in mundane situations but it just didn’t hit for me. I couldn’t understand why Alix was so obsessed with Kelley after over a decade and her infatuation with Emira was just too much. 2.75⭐️ for me because I really wanted to like it but it just fell flat.
