"When people say 'terminal', I think of the airport..."

17-year-old Lenni Petterhsam is a long-term patient on the Rose Ward at Glasgow Princess Royal Hospital – a ward for people with life-limiting illnesses. When she 'rescues' 83-year-old Margot Macrae from a tricky situation they form a beautiful, if unlikely friendship, which Lennie and Margot explore in art class when they embark a project to produce 100 pictures – one for each of their combined years alive. Given Lenni's prognosis, the book naturally deals with loss and death, but it also celebrates life and friendship and is ultimately uplifting. I fell in love with both Lenni and Margot, and also with hospital chaplain Father Arthur, whom Lenni visits in the chapel, and who becomes a friend and confidant. I will miss them!
