I didn't enjoy this reread from my childhood as much as the excellent Mail Order Wings (by the same author, about the same characters), mainly because Andrea is hardly proactive at all in this one. In Mail Order Wings she makes all the decisions, and the story builds up into quite a creepy dark story. In this, the magic glasses are more or less forced on her and she basically has no control over what happens, even at the end. It's more comedic (so there is some fun to be had) but a bit on the silly side for my liking, though allowances can be made for its target age group in that respect.
