The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune

5.0

Hate is loud, but I think you’ll learn it’s because it’s only a few people shouting, desperate to be heard. You might not ever be able to change their minds, but so long as you remember you’re not alone, you will overcome.

This book gave me the same feelings I had reading Aristotele and Dante discover the secrets of the universe, and I'm so happy because after that book I thought I would never feel that way again.
I already knew that Klune was a capable writer, the way he's able to make the reader feels connected with the story and the characters is almost unique, but this one shocked me, this book is a rare pearl. From the moment I read the last page I'm in this beautiful and comforting bubble of happiness, calm and love that makes me feel like everything will be alright for a long time from now. This is the kind of book that everyone should read just to remember the joy of living in this weird, scary and amazing world.
I'm so glad this was my first 2021 reading.
The things we fear the most are often the things we should fear the least. It’s irrational, but it’s what makes us human. And if we’re able to conquer those fears, then there is nothing we’re not capable of.
