Read for the aesthetic/what was sold to me on the back cover; fiercely let down. Claiming this was a story about “finding ourselves, falling in love, a celebration of female friendship, and an exploration of the many ways women can become mothers in this world” is misleading and unfulfilling, sadly. I wanted to love it so bad and share it with my best friend (we feel Pen/Alice coded) but I can’t :/ It was just so not impactful.
I will say though!- Knight’s prose is stunning to read. I love when authors can make a mundane activity or action sound so romantic. I don’t take Knight’s prose for granted!! I just wish the story matched the quality of the writing.
