3/5 ⭐️s
🌶️🌶️ - medium spice
LOVES:
- The teasing dynamic between Jade and Red was fun and honestly, Red dealt with her so well in situations where she would have had me tearing my hair out 😝 Somehow he saw who she was to her core and waded through her facade to push her just enough without scaring her away completely. Masterfully done 👌
- The whole idea that someone doesn’t belong in a certain “world” or community is BS and I love the way Red gets that and supports Jade in realizing that
CRITIQUES:
- The writing style was very casual and almost like a stream-of-consciousness or something. I often like quirky, but this went just a step beyond. It just wasn’t really for me.
- Their attraction to each other came off strangely sometimes… almost like the author was trying to insert more spicy thoughts where it didn’t quite fit.
- The ending seemed quite abrupt and I didn’t feel like I got the resolution it needed
Some parts of this felt off for me and other parts were enjoyable. I think there are plenty who would really like this one, but some aspects just weren’t for me.
Thanks to Hambright PR for the advance copy 💝 Releases July 15th!
