It was a fun read with funny moments and banter between the main cast and their opponents. I love the theme of niceness is important in this world regardless of the hardships. It was interesting that the plot of the book (just one night) was intercut with 10 years worth of flashbacks on...really all the bullshit that Benny went through but stayed true to himself despite it.

It wasn't as scary or as horror as I thought. A bit more whimsical perhaps and there were definitely scary moments, but only in the flashbacks (sometimes) so it was never a constant feeling.

I'm also not sure if I like the writing style. It has a meandering prose to it which I like in stephen king, but instead of meandering about characters to further explore them it sometimes meandering on the author interjecting himself into past chapters or going in introspection, which felt trippy at times.

I still enjoyed the book, wasn't as horror as I thought it was
