the version of this i read was an arc from edelweiss
i think this books suffers from having too many plots but heres a list of things i really liked:
- really loved the changing of the format of the novel its really interesting and shakes things up
- love sol talking about his gender and experiencing it
- the metanarrative of the book within the book was so fun and *chefs kiss*
- sol as a character is such a mess but i do hold him close to my heart
things i didnt like:
- i felt like the vampirism was kinda underwritten?
- the middle kinda drags on
- the romance between Else and Sol felt kinda rushed? or its more like, Else didnt feel fully developed as a character
- Ari as a character is so weird because he got a character description but barely showed up in the plot?
- i feel like Tracy's character was also underdeveloped? like she features heavily in the plot and her character gets unpacked as the main character figures out that she was trans but didnt know but again, nothing in her character was developed before this and afterward her character doesnt get much development so??
Graphic: Transphobia
Moderate: Deadnaming, Death, Car accident
