This was so good, I can't wait to read season 4 of this.
I'm such a sucker for isekai manwhas and normally the plot is always the same and often dragged out but this had an element of uniqueness to it. I love how Penelope "the rabid dog of Eckhart" is truly a villainess. She's not a doormat who like many other fls often gets walked all over and forgives everyone just because of a few nice things. Penelope isn't stupid either, she knows what it's like to struggle and live in hardship as in her previous life she wasn't treated much better than Penelope. In some regards, I would say her previous life was even harder than the one in the videogame.
She tries everything she can to get out of this alive and truly understands the motives and feelings of the real Penelope. She's smart enough to know when to back down and when to actually speak up about her feelings. Despite the affection scores dropping, she doesn't stop and truly expresses her feelings. Yes, most of the time it turns out that what she did was in favour of her but she didn't know that. She was strong and resilient enough to know when to say something. She also doesn't just disregard the real Penelopes feelings and just accept useless apologies from people that didn't care about her before they switch happened. She having already lived a very similar life previously really elevated the way she made choices in the videogame. I love how she actually had a solid background to her and reasons unlike many other isekais and in my opinion that differentiates this manwhas from the rest.
The mls were all also really interesting. Personally my favourite is Callisto and I'm really hoping he's going to be the one that she ends up with and from the way that I'm seeing things, I'm really seeing the ship sailing in the future. Or maybe I'm just seeing things because I want to push this certain narrative in my mind. I love how Callisto is psychotic, a lunatic and often times quite unhinged. Despite all of this, he teases Penelope a lot and has a really good sense of humour. Whenever he comes up, he always brightens the mood and adds an element of humor to something that sometimes can come across as a little depressing. He's also got his reasons for being this way. He wasn't born like this and to a certain extent, he could be considered a villain as well. This aspect of him, where he can relate to Penelope can quite a bit, makes me think of him as the perfect endgame. I really don't see anyone better for her. Also, unlike other characters, he never seems to doubt and always looks for her innocence before just pointing fingers at her uselessly. It always made me so happy when he came on screen, I would even go as far as saying that he's my favourite character.
Although this was really good, I do have some criticisms. Often times, It was quite predictable. Even the plottwist at the end of season 3 was very much foreshadowed and predictable. It also felt like Penelope was a little too overpowered at times. No matter what she does, it never seems to go negatively for her and when in the rare circumstance that it does end up happening, she quickly recovers from the crisis and everything comes back to normal.
Apart from this, I would genuinely say this is one of the best isekai manwhas that I've ever read. Certainly the best one that I've read recently.
