This spin-off series is a little different than normal considering its conclusion was canceled. I wanted to read it anyway because I read the Fallen Kingdom series and I like reading anything and everything that involves a series I am reading. Now I enjoyed that series and I enjoyed this one too. It was definitely totally different with the two separate stories, one happening in past Mytica and the other in present-day Toronto. Once again the characters are what stood out for me in this series. I loved getting to know all of them, Maddox, Crys, and Becca, even Farrell. I really liked the magical elements from past Mytica in Maddox. Also the introduction of Valoria, it was interesting to finally meet a character that was mentioned in the original series and actually see what she was like. Also, the cult-like Hawkspear society was also really interesting to get to learn about. Normally I don't like parallel stories, but this one worked really well. I loved how it came together in the end and how both stories eventually connected together and also made sense as a spin-off of the original content. Morgan Rhodes really wrote a great little story so far and I can't wait to see how it continues. Her characters are always awesome and she creates twists and turns you don't expect and you will always know that she will kill at least someone in her books. I don't understand why it didn't continue and I heard the next one ends on a cliffhanger that I will never get the answers to. Aw well, I guess that is what I get for starting a series I knew never got completed. Overall, I liked this story and connected with the characters. It was a little slow at parts and I didn't get through it as fast as I wanted to, but I still really liked it. I would recommend reading it, even though some people would agree that it is pointless.
