Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee
2.0

This book probably should have remained unpublished. If anything, it is an interesting peek into how an author can take a fairly uninspiring first draft and turn it into something remarkable. Having read TKAM just before this, it is easy to see the passages that Lee maintained. It's also easy to see how vastly improved her writing and command of language and description is in TKAM. GSAW has none of the poetic beauty of Mockingbird.

As an exploration of how our gods and idols fail us and how we must grow up into our own selves, GSAW is interesting...but interesting only if you don't already know the story of TKAM.
