You can definitely tell the themes that this book explored and how they were innovative for its time. I think other materials really build on the foundation that the author setup. Unfortunately the story is so well known that everyone knows the twist ending, it kind of spoils the story. The story isn’t long enough to flesh out more themes or really draw the reader in. I personally think Fight Club does a better job expanding on the good and evil duality that the books main character struggles with. It’s a fine read, but there are better works that developed on the books themes.
