If I wasn’t familiar with the case, I would have liked it more, since it takes away the mystery of what’s about to happen in the case. Audrey Rose felt like a modern girl from our time dropped into 19th century, at some moments. The feminism in the book felt lazy, and I found the theme of “I can be both strong and beautiful” repetitive. Audrey Rose had her “not like other girls” moments, but I still liked her overall. There are historically and scientifically inaccurate parts in the book, but it didn’t impact my enjoyment much. The plot twists didn’t shock me, but the book was entertaining and fun to read, nonetheless!
