21 Ways to a Happier Depression: A Creative Guide to Getting Unstuck from Anxiety, Setbacks, and Stress by Seth Swirsky
2.0
I can see both sides here; on the one hand, telling a depressed person to compliment themselves or write letters seems a bit overly simplistic and misses the mark. On the other hand, sometimes when you are in the pit of a depressive period, forcing yourself to do even the small things that seem impossible or pointless (making your bed) end up having a small positive effect. So, for people looking to "get unstuck," this may be nice; for those legitimately looking for a "happier depression," it's a little more work than this book makes it seem.
If you were hoping for more actual advice on handling anxiety and coping mechanisms for depression, I can't recommend Ellen Forney's Rock Steady enough. I would recommend that one way more than this one, although I know that for those who don't care for graphic novels and like their advice in the form of watercolor hand lettering, that may not happen.
