The Cemetery of Untold Stories
by Julia Alvarez
The Cemetery of Untold Stories is poetic literary fiction with a touch of magic realism. A well-known and respected author decides to physically bury all her unfinished work on a plot of land inherited from her father. Alvarez writes this from multiple perspectives of the author, her housekeeper, and those whole tales are left unsaid. This made it a little hard for me to keep names and stories straight as some of them overlap, but overall I enjoyed this novel. It reminds me a bit of works like Olive Kitteredge, Winesburg, Ohio, and Spoon River Anthology.
