How did I miss this author in my childhood reading and in reading to my children? This book is delightful as it follows two brothers and a sister, as well as a new friend on magical adventures at a nearby castle during their summer holidays. It is told by an unnamed story teller with some humor. It includes some real-world adult challenges including romance and money.

Nesbit was writing at the same time as J.M. Barrie and Beatrix Potter were writing. And she was an influence on many children's writers who followed.

I can find no indication that this has been made into a movie but I would love to see the Ugly-Wuglies animated!
