I will admit that I was considering DNFing this book numerous times in the first 50 pages, but overall I am really glad I continued. I will say that I agree with almost all of the reviews:
- this book is incredibly confusing - you are just thrown in the deep end with no real explanation on how the world works, you just need to piece it together over time. There is also a lot of confusion around the main character which you also just need to go with and understand that you have to accept the confusion and trust that most of it will come together as you follow the story
- this book is not for everyone - personally I enjoy the political/murder mystery/ court based fantasy which is incredibly dark, but it’s not necessarily a book that will work for everyone, primarily due to how confusing it is.
