This book started out so well! The premise was interesting. The characters were unique. The magic system setup with the bargains was thrilling and chilling. Then it just went downhill. Ivy's fascination and attraction to Emmett was so out of nowhere, it wasn't believable at all, especially with how he treated her.
The middle dragged and then all this crazy stuff started happening at the very last possible moment. It was not good storytelling. I was also disappointed to find out that this is not a standalone like I thought it was.
