Absolution by Taylor L. Ray

4.0

Tropes: Enemies to lovers; Rich x Poor; Redemption; Bully; Mistaken Identity; Tortured hero; Psychic/Ghost haunting; Murder Mystery

Absolution is full of twists and turns that make your head spin while giving a romance story that gives all the giddiness and steam. Warning: maybe don’t read certain chapters in public.
The concept is a wild one, a psychic that hasn’t quite accepted is contacted by the spirit of her doppelgänger and given a task of unfinished business: contact the love of her life and give him closure. Sounds easy, right? Except said love of life, Dominic, has a chip the size of Las Vegas on his shoulder and doesn’t want to listen, instead working out his demons on poor Whitney, thinking he’s been screwed over. Eventually, the twisted love story turns into a murder mystery with a hunt for a killer, truth revelations, mistaken identities, sex parties, kidnapping at gun point, etc.

Dominic is very intense, but his story arc was wonderful to play out, especially when he finally just GIVES IN. We all love a bad boy that eventually accepts his inner gooey cinnamon roll.

The only reason this isn’t 5 stars is because, to be honest, I had to shake my head at Whitney a few times in the beginning. I felt like that girl kept making bad decisions that screamed mistake, but I suppose it all worked out in the end! I also would have loved to have heard from the grandmother more!
