Split Tooth by Tanya Tagaq
3.0

Split Tooth is one of the most jarring audiobooks I have ever listened to.

I have mixed feelings about this book- primarily because I didn't understand it. Tagaq's writing is extremely lyrical and magical. However, I was so intrigued and wanted to continue reading even if I didn't really understand some parts. It was brutal and difficult to read, but I'm glad to have read it since it opened my eyes to so many things.

I don't know much about Inuit culture or life in Nunavut, but reading this has made me interested in learning more! That's my main takeaway from this book and one of the reasons I enjoyed the book as much as I did. I loved the parts where she described life in her town, the culture, and the struggles. I definitely want to read more books set in Nunavut now so I can continue to learn.
