I have conflicting feelings about this book. The writing was really strong, which is partly why I didn’t enjoy it very much. In other words, the author so skillfully and beautifully portrayed depression, grief, and hopelessness that I found it difficult to enjoy reading. I also found it hard, at times, to root for the MC due to my moral/ethical struggle with her choices. I found the individual mannerisms and overall development of the supporting characters to be quite successful, as I could think of real coworkers I’ve had in the past whom they reminded me of, and I felt like I knew these folks. The last third of the book was actually my favorite; in fact, I’d love to read a sequel and get to know the character better in her evolved state!
