White Hot Kiss
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I don’t get all the hate for this book... then again I don’t get all the hate for tropes and formulaic books. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want or need from a book.
Also this is a teen book! It’s published by Harlequin Teen, so anyone reviewing this as a NA book has missed a step. I read it 100% as a teen book... and I found it very Twilight/Percy Jackson, with a dash of SJ Maas. I have been in a reading funk and had recently read some heavier stories. As a result I was looking for something easy and fun and this fit the bill!
This is an urban teen fantasy/romance novel and I’m here for it. I do have concerns that the love triangle won’t go my way since I’ve heard she let the readers decide their fate... but I’m suuuper late to this party what can I do. I’m definitely having a Twilight moment where I don’t get why she’d go for one over the other because I didn’t like the other guy from the start but oh well haha. Listen don’t hate me but all you Team Jacobs, I literally don’t understand it!!
Anyways we have gargoyles, demons, and humans running around DC causing all kinds of mayhem and there’s loads of will they won’t they, the world is not black or white, and all around prejudice is bad! There’s also some typical high school antics but it’s more of a very distant sub plot. I love her friend Stacy though because she’s 100% true to herself and doesn’t give an eff about anything other than being herself.
