The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

4.0

I found it quite hard to get into- as it begins wiith the rape and murder of the lead character, Susie Salmon -but then I found myself whisked along on her journey into her "afterlife" if you like and how she managed to shape the world around her whilst still watching over the world of her family and friends.
My favourite part of the book is the chapter in which Lindsay, Susie's younger sister, breaks into the house of the man her father suspects of murdering Susie in order to find some form of evidence- at that point I felt so connected to the characters that I went through the emotions of fear, relief and panic as I read it.
A bit of a weepy one so make sure you have some tissues at the ready.
