While there are definitely some gems of information Crushing It! feels incredibly repetitive, irrelevant or outdated.

Repetitive:
Throughout the book are success stories that can be interesting or inspiring but are all a very similar “Life was bad, I read Crush It! and now life good”.

They really drag on though and there are just SO MANY. Oh and in case there weren’t enough stories in the second half of the book Gary just starts MAKING UP HYPOTHETICAL STORIES that are also really long and drawn out.

Irrelevant:
If you have a pretty basic level of competence using social media you’ll already know the majority of what is being taught.

I won’t discount that this could be useful for someone who’s super inexperienced though.

Outdated:
Not Gary’s fault as the book was published in 2018 but I still see a lot of people recommending it now and to me I’m not sure why. A decent chunk of the information is not really relevant anymore such as the music.ly chapter.

Conclusion/TL;DR:
The 8 hour audiobook feels like 7.5 hours of fluff and maybe 30 minutes of actually useful information.

Unless you’re someone with either a whole lot of spare time or no experience with social media at all I wouldn’t recommend this book.
