Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix
2.0
This was my first Grady Hendrix book, and I went in fully expecting to love it. A story about young girls being stripped of their power and reclaiming it through witchcraft? Hell yea! Unfortunately, I felt no satisfaction on that front, or any other.
The character development was lacking, I felt no real connection to anyone. The witchcraft was vanilla af. The pacing was annoyingly inconsistent. Zinnia and Hagar were by far more interesting characters than Fern, yet felt like a half baked attempt at diversity rather than fully realized people.
The gore was descent, and there were some genuinely cool horror moments. But honestly, just read Slewfoot.
