The Djinn Waits a Hundred Years
by Shubnum Khan
dark
medium-paced
Haunted houses and long forgotten stories that fester in the recesses of extended families. The whispers of wrongdoings, slights and gossip that build up over time taking its own shape.
I found the writing a bit confusing at first, and the two timelines kept crossing over with me struggling to follow. But once the vast array of characters each developed into their own, it was easy to read and get into the story.
I didn't realise this was a horror story, it sure didn't feel like it! I love old houses by sea!
