This book is a good choice if you're coming down from a John Dies at the End binge and looking for something with a similar vibe. The scenario is completely different, set in an "anything goes" high-tech Las Vegas/perma-Burning Man type city. There aren't any ghosts or (non-human) ghouls per se, but plenty of absurd violence and fantastical situations. Zoey's just a regular schmoe who inherits the city and tries to make it work. Plenty of Wongian action and humor
