First Love by Ivan Turgenev

emotional reflective

4.5

I love classics so much lately, the prose is so beautifully crafted, the plot is interesting. Teen boys in classics are like teen girls today actually, because I, too, would go for a silly walk to clear my mind, declare i’m in love a day and a half after meeting someone and fall on my bed dramatically at the first sign of misfortune.

Oh, gentle feelings, soft sounds, the goodness and the gradual stilling of a soul that has been moved; the melting happiness of the first tender, touching joys of love-where are you? Where are you?

and the following is so wasteland baby coded
I cannot even begin to convey the feelings with which I left her. I never wish to experience them again, but I should count it a misfortune never to have had them at all.
