Attack on Titan, Volume 6 by Hajime Isayama

5.0

Definitely my favorite volume as a whole so far. The Female Titan arc is incredible, with so much moment-to-moment tension, terror, and suspense, as well as mystery and thematic, moral musings. We see tons from Jean and Armin (two of my faves), with Jean putting his life on the line to buy the Corps more time against the Female Titan, and Armin being the focus of the truly chilling moment the FT stares at him and doesn't kill him. And then we get the beautiful thematic of SNK as a whole from Levi's lips:

The interesting thing is that Levi's morality isn't built from cynicism per se, but a grounded honesty in how the world works, and how you can't blame yourself in hindsight for the results of the choices you made. You can only make the choices you can live with in the here and now, accept whatever consequences result, and move on to the next choice, the next right thing in your heart.
