My Mum Tracy Beaker by Jacqueline Wilson

5.0

“I wish there was a sport called Reading a Book, where competitors had to choose the best book in the library, find the cosiest corner, and read.”

Tracy Beaker is back, and just as gobby as ever, but this time Tracy has a daughter, Jess, and she's ready for luck to fall on them for once. Jess thinks that her mum is the best, even when she is shouting at teachers or karate chopping the air. Jess also think that their cosy top floor flat is the best, however Tracy might not agree. Tracy wanted a better life for her daughter than the one she had growing up, so when her boyfriend Sean Godfrey, offers them a better life, Tracy jumps at the chance, not considering that maybe, her childhood dream might have already been right before her eyes. Follow along as Tracy and Jess get up to typical Beaker mischief.

Oh the nostalgia!!! I absolutely adored Tracy Beaker and Jacqueline Wilson when I was younger and this book just brought all of those feelings flooding back. I watched The Story of Tracy Beaker and The Dumping Ground on repeat, and so getting this amazing book telling us about Tracy's life as an adult is such a treat!! Although it clearly is a children's book it definitely feels that it is aimed at those that grew up with Tracy - we get mentions of some of the more well-remembered Dumping Ground characters, I only wish every character had been mentioned!! Wilson brilliantly brings in aspects from Tracy Beakers life and you just get a real sense of how important these things are to the characters, even all the way down to Justine's fancy clock!

Wilson really delivered with this book and I absolutely adored it - I hope she writes more so we can follow the Beaker's exploits throughout their lives! Right...off to watch The Story of Tracy Beaker again.
