The Litigators by John Grisham
4.0

What an amazing book. I picked it up at a fair and jokingly told the lawyers in the family it would help me to understand them. Within the first few pages I almost put it down as Oscar and Wally were nothing like the lawyers I know. I am so pleased that I stayed with it. The characters are wonderfully drawn and rich characters. Good to have strong women characters in many different roles. This book canvasses so many important themes without ever being preachy or sanctimonious: exploitation of migrant workers, objectification of women, product safety, echoes of the constant gardener in expose of drug trials outside USA, greed and the desire for money, value of careful research - the list could go on and on. I feel as if I have watched rather than read this book - the scenes are so clearly drawn and the direct speech so realistic. Strongly recommend (I've already passed it on to a friend to read)
