Me and Ian McEwan just cannot hit it off.

You make me never want to read Atonement, Ian.

If I hadn’t been reading this for college, I would have had dnfed the shit out of this right after the first chapter. Everything in the story seemed too bland, all the characters were staler than a week-old bread and if they had all turned out to be machines, I wouldn’t have been surprised.
Granted, the last chapters were more interesting - they were more eventful, vá - which made it less painful to pick the book up. And, considering the story dragged on at a pace that made me fall asleep 4 times (FOUR!) over the week it took me to read it, the end seemed way too rushed.

Cool thing it’s over tho.
