Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

5.0

I read this when I was a lot younger and it still holds up today. It is my favourite book of the series by far.

The stakes are much higher in this because of the looming threat of uprising as well as their lives all being at stake.

All of the victors are much more interesting characters than the tributes were last year. I know it’s because they’re adults who have fully formed personalities and relationships, but it really makes a difference compared to the first book.

The writing style is much more simple than I remember and it did drop the rating a bit from 5 stars to 4.5, but the plot and phenomenal characters make up for it in spades and it’s great for teens.
