I will never question this one truth again — every time I finish a Sanderson novel, it means I will end up with a new world, magic system, and characters I’m completely obsessed with!!

I loved this book! It had everything I love in Fantasy and more! The magic system was so fascinating and intricate! I can’t even explain it, you’ll just have to read and be amazed!

The characters were wonderful, flawed, complex and with unique voices — I could go on and on about each one! I can’t a pick a favorite, but I loved Lightsong - one of the “gods” in the story. His self deprecating humor, his “disbelief in his own divinity”, how he surprised me. Also, Vivenna was a character that went through so much - she is flawed and conflicted, and I think the most relatable character in the book. And of course, Vasher and Nightblood (this talking, friendly, and VERY deadly sword!). They were great!

And there was some cute romance that I really enjoyed.

The twists, the history of the world, the way the story is told — it was all so engaging!

* I took down half a star because there are a couple of tiny things left deliberately unanswered. And while this is currently a standalone, the author did say there might be a sequel that could delve further into everything (and you can tell how much potential it has for more from the magic system, world, and the characters).

I really hope the book will have a sequel!

Overall: This is amazing! And so highly recommended if you love Fantasy!

(And if you’re interested in reading Brandon Sanderson’s books, I suggest reading this one before The Stormlight Archive. I didn’t do that and so I missed the little surprises that the author did with the two series!)
