ruhip 's review for:
Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber
by Mike Isaac
the story is a 5 but the writing is a 3. the account is balanced not because facts are presented objectively, but because the tone waffles between villainizing kalanick and idolizing him? this work is obviously very well-researched, but is so detailed about literally everything: things i care about (waymo's fight for intellectual property rights, internal reaction to fowler's narrative) and things i don't (detailed childhood backstory per each of kalanick's girlfriends, reasoning behind kalanick's choice of nike sneakers).
overall this book is about 20% longer than it needs to be and i found myself kind of wanting it to be over, but reads like a novel bc the story is so gripping (tl;dr exhibits some 30 different ways kalanick is an asshole)
