The moments at Anne's home were really nice, but I feel like the author/artist is intentionally trying to build some suspense after being so flat for a while. There is still some confusion on my part, though, and I don't know if it's my bad reading of the style or if it's the book itself.
I feel like I'd understand more of what was going on if I was reading the novels, which may need to go on my to-read list for the summer. On the other hand, some of my students have told me that the manga boil down things to the basic parts of the plot, whereas the novels seem to meander a lot more in narrative.
