Beloved Delhi: A Mughal City and her Greatest Poets by Saif Mahmood

challenging emotional informative reflective sad slow-paced

4.5

I had to mark this book's mood as "sad" because not only are many of the poems, so is the state of Urdu in India today. That and the tragic bios of figures like Bahadur Shah Zafar made this a bittersweet read. I am looking forward to hunting down performances of many of the works included to help bring them to life.
