Are there critiques I could make of this book? Sure. Am I going to? Absolutely the fuck not.

This is both setup for book 4, continuation of book 2, and a gripping story all its own centered around my favourite character in this universe, the inimitable Fermin Romero de Torres. I loved getting to know more of Fermin's past. The more of Zafon's books I read, the more that I'm convinced that Fermin is himself the heart of it all. Ending it on Fermin getting to see the Cemetery of Forgotten Books was *chef's kiss.*

While this book is dark - probably even darker than Shadow just because of the extremely real subject matter - it still manages to sparkle. What I love about it most is seeing that, in times when Fermin is close to losing hope, destiny intervenes.

Incredible. I wasn't planning to reread this series, but hey, here I am, and I'm not complaining.
