Blood So Brutal by Emily Blackwood

3.0

This book review is brought to you by Huntyr’s Olympic-level flip-flopping. One sentence: “I hate him!” The next: “Maybe I don’t hate him… but trust no one!” Girl, pick a lane. Also, shoutout to her still being brainwashed by “Lord” even though every neon sign in the plot was screaming “VILLAIN ALERT!” Huntyr, sweetie, are we reading the same book?

If I have to endure the saying “hells” as a reaction one more time, I might achieve angel-hood. And can we talk about the betrayals? Every chapter is another knife in the back. At this point, I need a chiropractor for the whiplash and an aspirin for the migraine.

And the first big reveal? Lord isn’t who she thought he was. Shocking—if you’re Huntyr, who seems to have missed all the red flags. The man was practically waving a villain handbook in her face.

Then there’s the so-called elusive cure for the “Hungry Ones.” Apparently, it involves Huntyr bleeding a bit while Wolf recites a haiku or something. That’s it? That’s the grand solution? Yikes.

The ending was happy, thank the gods, but blink, and you’ll miss it. We’ve been through all this drama, and we get, what, half a page of resolution? Cool, cool, cool.
