The Twelve Dates of Christmas
by Jenny Bayliss
Kate decides, with the insistence of her friend Laura, to sign up for The Twelve Dates of Christmas through a dating agency. Each of the twelve dates is something different, such as ice skating, hiking, cooking, dancing, etc. and she has a different date for each event in hopes of finding love for Christmas.
This book reminded me of a Hallmark movie, which are my favorite type of movies so I am not dissing them or this book in any way, shape, or form. However, that being said, it makes it predictable. I knew from about halfway into the book who Kate was going to end up with and I am really happy she did end up with them because let's face it, they were perfect for each other! I did really enjoy the type of dates that Kate went on and it was a lot of fun seeing who she was meeting and what they were like. I also think that if this isn't a thing in real life, it should be because it sounds like a blast! What a fun way to find new friends or meet a significant other if you don't already have one. I would definitely have to recommend this book to others, it is a light and easy read with a cute ending.
The only thing I wasn't such a huge fan of was how long the chapters were. It made sense that each date had its own chapter, but it also made some of them drag on. I also am the type of person who likes to read a quick chapter before I go to bed or back to work on a break and I would have to stop midchapter and that just irks me. Ha!
