So I re-read this for my podcast, DCOM Mission, where we watch DCOMs and we're onto Avalon High so I wanted to compare. I had read this book back in high school and was supremely underwhelmed...that didn't change.
I love Meg Cabot. She wrote my favorite modern YA book as a kid (All American Girl) and knows how to write from the mind of a teen girl.
This ain't it, Chief.
The premise is cute, modern day Arthurian legend take, but it's sloppy passing and the characters are flat. The MC is a Mary Sue and oy that is my least favorite thing.
The plot was also flimsy and predictable. I know this is for YA but that doesn't mean kids are oblivious. Have some trust.
Cabot has much better books, read those.
