Party Princess by Meg Cabot

2.0

A series can go one of two ways: it can develop characters and a continuous plot over the course of multiple story arcs, or it can follow a similar plot over and over. The Princess Diaries has become more of the second type as it has gone on, and at this point, the plot and characters are tiresome. Especially after reading an Austen novel, in which the characters are repeatedly foiled because they are not allowed by social norms to speak to each other with any substance, it is SO annoying that once again Mia has this raging horrible problem with boyfriend that she agonized over but cannot talk to him about even though she's been dating him for a year and a half. I did enjoy getting to know the Guy Who Picks Corn Out of Chili.
