anuwolf 's review for:
A Long Petal of the Sea
by Isabel Allende
Last year I read a lot of nonfiction, so I told myself to read more fiction this year. And I'm happy I did that and I'm so happy I read this magnificent book. I've read two others by Isabel Allende, and this one is also very interesting and magical.
Reading this book reminded me that art, and especially fictional (and historical fiction) stories, can tell us more about the human condition and human experiences than a lot of nonfiction. This story portrayed emotions and our struggles beautifully, as well as how our history and roots can shape us. It was amazing.
