In the Midst of Winter by Isabel Allende

3.0

This book is very dark. Everyone in the story has lost someone to violence or misfortune, however there is also new life in each story. The story of how the characters' come together is less engaging than their personal histories. I enjoyed Evelyn's story the most with the appearance of the Mayan Jaguar. Lucia's story was also fascinating with a perspective on Chilean political history. Richard's journey seemed less developed and he is a less likeable character. I listened to the audio book and enjoyed it overall.
